Shakin’ All Over: my Top Ten songs of disability

TOTP 1960s chart
Top of the Pops chart, BBC TV 1960s, The Lowry, Salford exhibition August 2013

To lead up to and mark the publication this autumn of my new book, Shakin’ All Over: Popular Music & Disability, over the next few weeks I am going to present in countdown form my Top Ten songs of disability. I’ll post a short piece of writing about each song, drawn from what I’ve written about it in the book, and illustrate with a link to a video or image of the artist(s) performing. From 10 to no. 1, top of the charts. I’ve already worked out what they are, and frankly there are about 30 of them, so I have some work to do to get it down to ten. I really look forward to your comments and nominations too. I’ll post them regularly here on my home page, but to keep them in one place I’ll also archive them at this url: http://georgemckay.org/shakin-all-over/top-ten
